STEM Educational Workshop - From preschool to real life

    INTRODUCTION TO THE STEM EDUCATION MODEL IN PRIMARY CLASSES

    Opening the seminar program, delegates had the opportunity to visit STEAMZONE. Here, the students of Son Ca 5 Kindergarten are participating in exciting experiences such as: Children decorating the Steam Wall, Building a Christmas Park, Lost in the frozen country with Cubetto Baby Making Christmas Cookies, Santa's Sleigh, Potted Plant Decoration. The participants were very attentive and excited when they watched the babies experience the activity. In addition, some delegates also joined the activities with the children.

    Next, the delegates headed to the hall to participate in the workshop opening. Opening is the opening speech of Ms. Luong Thi Hong Diep - School of Kindergarten Department of Education and Training, HCMC. Recalling the application of STEM education training to the preschool level. Therefore, this STEM educational seminar is an opportunity for all preschool leaders to listen and share experiences about the practical application of STEM model in teaching and drawing lessons. preparation for training development.

    SHARE EXPERIENCE EXPLOITING STEM EDUCATION MODEL 4.0

    To help delegates understand more about STEM education model, Ms. Nguyen Thi Que Chi - Head of Training Department of SteamZone gave a report on experience in organizing STEM education activities. The report highlights the important role of including Steam Education in early childhood education. In addition, it also introduces the teacher training program on how to build hands-on experience activities so that children feel the relationship between the lesson and life, thereby helping children practice critical thinking, creativity, communication skills, team work skills.

    Also within the framework of the seminar, Ms. Bui Thi Hanh - Preschool Teacher at SteamZone gave a speech on how to design STEAM experience activities and Introduce some integrated teaching applications. The speech revolved around the design of Steam experience activities in accordance with the technical design process through 5 main activities:

    • Activity 1: Problem definition (design requirements, fabrication)
    • Activity 2: Research background knowledge and propose design solutions
    • Activity 3: Present and discuss design options
    • Activity 4: Manufacturing models / equipment… according to design plans
    • Activity 5: Present and discuss manufactured product.

    Besides, there are also some integrated teaching applications such as: products integrating science, technology, and mathematics applied in teaching Steam, Robot Cubetto to help children get familiar with the programming world, ...

    At the end of the speeches, the delegates had many comments and questions that need to be answered about the Steam educational model for SteamZone. SteamZone will receive the comments from the delegates to serve as the foundation for building a complete Steam educational model.

    In the next 10 years, the demand for STEM education will increase to keep up with the development of Industry 4.0 and the importance of science and technology. Therefore, in order to effectively exploit STEM, schools need to prepare thinking and content for students to learn, operate and apply knowledge into practice. In addition, it should be noted that knowledge must be integrated into the curriculum from an early age, creating imagination, stimulating creativity, in an open direction consistent with psychology and interests of each student's age. Vietnam also needs to soon have a set of standards for integration, so that teachers can use this map as a reference, know what they will teach, how to teach and what students will get when they learn it.
